A 27-year-old Nigerian lady identified as Victory has narrated the traumatic experience she endured in silence while living with her “big mom.”
According to her, her big mom’s boyfriend, Awelle, constantly molested her and threatened her life if she ever revealed the truth.
Speaking during an interview with The Lucky Udu Experience, Victory recalled how she was forced to lie to her mother whenever she visited.
“I lived in total fear because I didn’t know what else Awelle could do. When my mom would come visit me in Fiesta, she would feel that there was something wrong. She would ask me, ‘Are you ok? Are they treating you fine?’ And I will always say yes because I couldn’t say anything. I didn’t want to die,” she recounted.
Victory explained that Awelle’s threats kept her in silence for years.
He warned that if she ever opened up about the abuse, he would slice her throat. Out of fear, she chose to endure the pain rather than risk her life.
Her story highlights the struggles of many young women who suffer abuse in silence due to fear of stigma, disbelief, or retaliation from their abusers.
