According to Independent News, on Monday, December 1, 2025, the former National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Rev. Dr Felix Omobude, raised fresh concerns over what he described as the rising wave of systematic attacks on Christians in Nigeria an issue he said has been building for many years but has now become deeply troubling.

Dr Omobude, who also serves as the General Superintendent of Gospel Light International Ministries (New Covenant Gospel Church), made these remarks during a media briefing in Benin City, Edo State.

He expressed shock that some Nigerians continue to downplay the gravity of the situation, noting that thousands of Christians have lost their lives simply because of their faith.

He added that many church buildings across the country have been destroyed by those he referred to as enemies of the Christian community.

In his words, he lamented that many Nigerians pretend not to notice the reality facing the nation. He argued that the habit of ignoring glaring issues has contributed greatly to Nigeria’s challenges.

“This has been a long-term issue. Now He said, “When the issue of Boko Haram started, there is no doubt that their main target was the church.

Dr Omobude recalled the Chibok incident, stressing that the attackers clearly knew the community they were invading.

He explained that the continuous assaults on Christian communities in Benue State were intentional and that many displaced Christians have remained in IDP camps for more than a decade.

According to him, the perpetrators have expanded their activities after realising how profitable violence has become, leaving many Nigerians across regions in distress.

He emphasised that countless churches have been burnt or vandalised, and many Christian leaders have lost their lives since the crisis began.

He described the ongoing situation as a growing form of terrorism, noting that although it was initially called different names, its true nature has now fully emerged.

Dr Omobude also recalled incidents where young Christian girls were attacked simply for expressing their faith, highlighting cases in Chibok and Abuja. He questioned why there has been no clear accountability for the individuals behind such acts.

He concluded that the steady destruction of Christian communities has been happening over several administrations.

While not placing all responsibility on the current government, he said successive governments have, for various reasons, chosen to act as though nothing serious was happening, thereby encouraging the continued spread of violence. View, More,
