Shehu Sani, a former Senator, has stated that during the military rule, he and others worked hard to bring back democratic governance. He said Nyesom Wike, who has held various positions like local government chairman, governor and minister, benefited from the efforts of those who fought for restoration of democracy

In a video shared by Channels TV from 30:00, Sani said during the struggle for democracy, he was imprisoned in Port Harcourt, Rivers State as a political prisoner. He questioned where Wike was during that time

In Sani’s words: “If not for the struggle we did to disestablish military dictatorship and restore democracy in Nigeria, people like Wike would not have become a local government chairman, a governor or a minister today. He is a beneficiary of our struggle, the sweat and all that we have invested in it. When I was in Port Harcourt prison serving a prison term as a political prisoner, where was Wike at that time?”
