Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has shared surprising differences in how the Nigerian government was run in the past and present. In a recent video shared by Symfoni TV FROM 0:39, Peter Obi recounted being officially declared Governor of Anambra State by the court after being impeached by some political officials.

He recalled that even Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo had people beg on his behalf not to be impeached during his tenure as Anambra State Governor, despite being in an opposition party.

Referencing the current situation in Rivers State, Peter Obi argued that such a thing can’t be replicated by the present APC Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He claimed it is now the President even removes democratically elected officials instead of ensuring they retain their positions in government.

His words: “I became a Governor through the court when President Obasanjo and Atiku were in Government. I did not pay the court one naira, I was sitting in my office and the court declared me the winner, it can’t happen in Nigeria today. When I was being impeached, the President sent people to come and intervene on my behalf, begging house people not to impeach me, today the President impeaches the person.
