Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has shared the surprising love story of how he met his wife, Laide, while he was her lecturer.
Speaking in an interview from 34:36 from 34:36 with FeelRightNews, the comedian recalled how he first noticed the young lady when she came to submit her final year project.
The woman’s supervisor was his close friend, which gave him the chance to watch her from a distance.
Oyetoro explained that he walked up to her and simply introduced himself by name. He told her he was a lecturer at the university and expressed his interest in her. However, he did not make his full intention clear right away. He decided to wait until her next visit to properly ask her out.
When she returned the following week, he finally toasted her. But she turned him down.
Despite the rejection, Oyetoro did not give up. He went back to his friend, who was her supervisor, and told him that he was truly serious about marrying the young lady.
His friend, named Gbenga, agreed to help him. With Gbenga’s support, the lady later changed her mind and accepted his proposal.
Today, that same female student is his wife, and the actor says they are living happily together.
His words: “When I was a lecturer at the university, I had been admiring one of my students. At that time, I was being pressured to get married. So when this lady brought her final year project to her supervisor, who was my colleague, I approached her. I told her my name is Afeez Oyetoro. I said that I am a lecturer here and would like us to know each other better. However, I didn’t go straight to the point. I told her that when she comes back next week, I will toast her properly. When she came back, I toasted her, but she refused. Then I told my friend, who was her supervisor, that I was serious about marrying her. Finally, my friend Gbenga intervened, and she agreed.
