Chuks Akunna, Executive Director of Authority Newspaper, has expressed scepticism over a recent judgement by Justice Okogbule Gbasam of the Rivers State High Court, who in his judgement affirmed the seats of the 27 Rivers State lawmakers that defected to the APC. In an interview with AIT from 1:12:00, Akunna questioned the impartiality of the judgement, suggesting that it may have been influenced by external factors.

He stated that the ruling, which dismissed a case based on a party membership switch, defied logic and seemed to ignore established legal norms. Akunna expressed concerns about the integrity of the judicial system and the potential for external influences to shape legal decisions.

According to him, “law is made by man for the betterment of society. You see, when I read the judgement of Justice Gbasam, I chuckled because I think that judgement was paid for, in my opinion. I mean, we’ve covered political parties, at least since 1999. Somebody came and said I no longer belong to this party; I’m now a member of APC, and then the judge said you don’t do that on pages of newspapers.”…..Sée Móre
