General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defense Staff, has shared the sacrifices made by military personnel and the impact on their families.
Speaking in a video shared by Channels TV from 11:10, Musa disclosed that after graduating from the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1991, he was immediately deployed to Liberia for a mission. He revealed that during that time, he lost 10 of his coursemates in the line of duty.
General Musa mentioned that children of fallen soldiers grow up without knowing their parents, which makes their lives even more difficult.
In General Musa’s words: “When I passed out in 1991 from academy, we went straight to Liberia. I lost 10 of my course mates immediately and over time it has been like that. So the sacrifice is enormous and people don’t really tend to understand what it means that families are losing their loved ones. No father, no mother. So you can imagine a kid growing up without even knowing who his dad was, it is really very herculean”
