During a recent project commissioning in Abuja, Minister Nyesom Wike spoke boldly against dishonest politicians. He criticized leaders who pretend to live simple lives while secretly enjoying wealth and luxury.
In a video shared by TVC News from 1:31, Wike shared a personal story to explain his point. He said that during a political campaign in Anambra State, he and other party members visited someone’s house after the event. There, he noticed expensive drinks being served, including Cristal Champagne, which is known to be very costly.
Surprised, Wike called the host and said, “Sir, you’re providing Cristal Champagne here, but every day you tell Nigerians that you wear only one shoe and carry one bag.” He found it strange that someone who acts poor in public could serve such luxury in private.
He went on to say that this kind of behavior is dishonest and misleading. “What you preach is not what you practice,” Wike said. “We like to hear such things, but that’s being deceitful.” He warned Nigerians, especially the youth, to be careful and not believe everything politicians say.
According to Wike, many leaders talk just to sound good, but their actions show something different. He encouraged Nigerians to look beyond sweet words and pay attention to what leaders actually do.
