According to Vanguard News,A prominent member of the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF), Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to reconcile with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, before the situation escalates beyond repair. Sara-Igbe’s appeal comes in response to Wike’s statement made during a live media chat in Abuja on Sunday, where the Minister declared that he would never make peace with the Governor.
Sara-Igbe, speaking from Port Harcourt, emphasized the importance of reconciliation for the sake of dignity and unity in Rivers State. He highlighted that Wike should not dismiss the opportunity for peace extended by the Obong Victor Attah-led PANDEF, urging him to end the political rift with Governor Fubara. According to Sara-Igbe, Wike is on a losing path and cannot win the ongoing political battle, which he warned was damaging the state.
The PANDEF chieftain further stressed that Wike’s stance against reconciliation was unreasonable, questioning what grievance the Governor could have caused him that would justify the refusal to forgive and make peace. He criticized Wike’s refusal to reconcile, noting that the situation is steadily worsening for the Minister.
Sara-Igbe called on Wike to consider the greater good of the state and the region, stressing that holding onto a grudge would only result in further harm. He concluded by expressing concern over the ongoing political struggle, urging Wike to act before it becomes too late to mend the broken relationship with Governor Fubara.
He said: “Everything is collapsing on his head. He is losing on daily basis and it has become clear that Wike cannot win this war. It is unheard of for him to say that he would never reconcile with Governor Fubara. What on earth has that young man done to him that he cannot forgive and let go!
