Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed deep concern about the growing insecurity across the country. Speaking at a recent event, he said the situation has reached a point where Nigerians from every region, religion, or background are unsafe. He stressed that ordinary citizens are being attacked daily, yet the government still struggles to protect them.
In a video shared by AIT News from 1:27, Obasanjo explained that Nigeria is not isolated from the rest of the world. Because of this, he believes that if the government cannot effectively secure lives and property, citizens have the right to ask the international community for support. He made it clear that no one should ignore the crisis simply because it appears to affect certain groups more than others, reminding everyone that every life matters.
Reflecting on his time in office, Obasanjo said the country once had strong intelligence abilities that made it possible to identify and track criminal elements anywhere in the country. However, back then, the challenge was the lack of advanced technology to act quickly once those criminals were located.
According to him, Nigeria now has improved technology, including drones that can target and neutralize dangerous groups without putting soldiers at unnecessary risk. With these tools available, he questioned why the country still hesitates, chooses negotiation, or repeatedly apologizes instead of taking decisive action.
In his words, “We drone you can finish them up, why are we not doing that. Why are we always apologizing, why are we negotiating?” View, More,
