While reacting to President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar issued a warning to Tinubu, advising him not to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. This information was revealed by DAILY INDEPENDENT.
Atiku stated that democracy in Nigeria is in danger and accused the administration of attempting to stifle the voices of the opposition and maintain power for the benefit of the elite.
During his speech, he emphasized that the opposition would not watch things unfold without taking action.
According to Atiku, democracy should not be used to serve only a select group of influential individuals. He stated that the objective of the opposition is to safeguard Nigeria’s democratic system.
He gave his word that the leaders of the opposition will fight for the rights of the average Nigerian citizen.
Atiku made the announcement that a well-organized and powerful opposition coalition will be formed.
His statement was that this coalition will fight for fairness and hold the government accountable for its actions.
In addition, he stated that the alliance will safeguard the right of every Nigerian to freely select themselves as their leaders.
As a further commitment, he pledged to carry on with the struggle for national growth, political liberty, and justice.
This is the mission of the opposition, according to Atiku, which is to return power to the people.
In his statement, he emphasized that Nigerians are entitled to decent governance, and he also stated that the opposition will not permit the government to abuse its power or suppress diverse points of view. Instead, they will provide a genuine alternative that takes into account the requirements of the people and listens to what they have to say.
“We are working to construct a powerful and unified opposition alliance, one that will confront the excesses of this administration, restore accountability, and give the government back to the people. The right of every Nigerian to freely pick their leaders will be protected by us, and we will continue to struggle for economic fairness, political freedom, and the advancement of the nation. We are coming to save Nigeria from its woes. We are not going to let up until we have accomplished that objective,” he stated.
