U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that American forces carried out airstrikes targeting three nuclear sites inside Iran. The announcement, made via his Truth Social platform, came shortly after U.S. military activity was observed from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.
Fox News national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin, reporting live from the Pentagon, stated: “We woke and heard six B-2 bombers seen leaving White man Air Force Base last night at midnight.” That movement raised early suspicions of a possible military operation underway.
According to Fox News, the strike reportedly targeted key facilities within Iran’s nuclear program, including Fordow and Natanz. These sites are known for housing uranium enrichment infrastructure and are heavily fortified against aerial attacks. The use of B-2 stealth bombers suggests the mission involved precision-guided bunker-busting ordnance, specifically Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs), designed to reach underground targets.
Military analysts believe the strike was facilitated by Israeli efforts in the region. Over the past week, Israeli forces have conducted operations aimed at dismantling Iran’s surface-to-air missile defenses. These actions reportedly cleared a path for U.S. bombers to reach their targets with minimal resistance.
The Pentagon has not yet released an official statement, but sources told Fox News that each B-2 bomber was equipped with two MOPs. Experts say the depth and complexity of the Fordow facility required multiple bombing passes to ensure destruction of key assets.
In addition to aerial strikes, the U.S. deployed support aircraft, including E-18 Growlers, which specialize in electronic warfare and radar jamming, further supporting the operation’s success.
Trump’s message emphasized that all three nuclear sites were struck and described the mission as “completed and successful.” There has been no immediate response from Iran, though regional observers anticipate a formal reaction shortly.
