In a bold statement on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, veteran actor and Labour Party chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo sounded the alarm over Nigeria’s political future.
Speaking to Vanguard, Okonkwo reflected on the 2023 general elections, describing them as a “complete daylight robbery” that derailed the people’s mandate.
He warned that if citizens fail to act wisely, history is bound to repeat itself.
“We were robbed in 2023,” Okonkwo insisted, “and the signs are clear — it will happen again if we remain passive.”
The former presidential campaign spokesperson for Peter Obi stressed that Nigerians must learn from the past.
He called for active civic participation and vigilant electoral oversight.
Okonkwo criticized what he called a “culture of silence and acceptance” that enables electoral fraud.
He urged the youth to rise above apathy and hold leaders accountable.
“The power belongs to the people,” he emphasized. “But only if the people are awake.”
With the 2027 elections looming, Okonkwo’s message is simple: Never forget 2023 — or risk living through it again.
His words are both a warning and a challenge. The future, he says, is in our hands.
