A retired US Air Force General Rob Spalding has highlighted how former United States President, Donald Trump’s administration had implemented a stringent economic isolation strategy against Iran through international pressure.
He stated how the United States applied pressure on major economic partners like China not to buy oil from the Iranians. He argued that this strategy presented foreign nations with a clear choice between maintaining trade relations with the United States or doing business with Iran. He however lamented that the Biden administration’s different approach had nullified the previous economic pressure on Iran, leading to a substantial improvement in Iran’s financial position and regional influence.
He said in an interview with FOX News from 1:54, ‘Donald Trump said, hey, look, Iran was broke. Iran was broke, and that was something the United States achieved. So, instead of being broke now, they’re doing very well. And, by the way, they were forced into bankruptcy by Trump. We told China that if they buy a barrel of oil from Iran, we won’t trade with them. So, Iran was isolated and broke, but then the Biden administration came in and reversed everything. In addition to the things I just noted, we’ve created a problem that Israel now has to solve.”
