According to a recent video by Sahara TV from 0:20, a member of the House of Representatives has made a startling revelation about the ongoing insurgency in Nigeria. Speaking candidly, the lawmaker admitted that Boko Haram could have been completely eliminated during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, but vested interests within the system sabotaged the effort.
He disclosed that foreign mercenaries were contracted to assist in the fight against the insurgents and were close to wiping them out. However, due to personal and political interests, they were ordered to withdraw.
“We were about to finish it, but because of personal interest, what we were getting, we asked them to go back,” he stated. He lamented that despite legislative efforts to provide enabling laws, the government has failed to enforce them. “If the government refuses to implement, we can only advise. We cannot force them,” he added.
His Words:” During Jonathan, we brought mercenaries. They were about to finish Boko Haram, but because of our complacency, personal advertisement, and personal interest, we asked them to go back, and we are still battling with the issue. I was in Borno State as a member of the State House of Assembly when the mercenaries were in Borno.”
