Shehu Sani, a former Senator and human rights advocate, praised the Kaduna State House of Assembly for its investigation into the state’s finances from 2015 to 2023. This probe focuses on the alleged mismanagement of N432 billion under the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The investigation has sparked significant public and political interest, with Sani’s endorsement amplifying the discourse around financial accountability in the state.
Taking to his verified Twitter account, Sani expressed his appreciation for the Assembly’s courage and commitment to uncovering the truth about the state’s financial dealings during El-Rufai’s tenure. He highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability, emphasizing that the people of Kaduna deserve to know how public funds were managed.
“Again, I wish to commend the Kaduna State House of Assembly for the probe of the finances of Kaduna state from 2015-2023. The people of Kaduna applaud and appreciate your courage and patriotism,” Sani wrote. He assured the Assembly of the public’s support in their efforts to recover any looted funds, regardless of the individuals involved.
Sani’s statement also addressed broader concerns about the economic impact of alleged financial mismanagement. He condemned the “economic asphyxiation” of Kaduna State, the “impoverishment” of its people, and the “strangulation” of the future of its children due to what he described as “mountains of opaque and fraudulent loans.”
