Former member of the Labour Party, LP, Doyin Okupe has stated that they didn’t eat yam in his house for three weeks until he recently bought it.
He made the statement on his official X handle on Tuesday.
He was responding to one of his followers who said the price of yam is still very high in Kaduna state.
In the post that he shared on his page, he said he bought an average tuber of yam for N2,000 on Tuesday. He said before, it was being sold for N4,000.
Doyin Okupe said food prices have been falling. He said in the last 4weeks, the prices of yam, tomatoes have crashed completely.
Here is what he wrote on his official X handle;
“We have not eaten yam in my house for 3weeks, because it became too expensive. It was going for N6,000. It is understandable if yam is more expensive in kaduna. Yam is grown mainly in the south and middle belt. There is also over supply to Lagos market which forces prices of commodities down in Lagos. Food prices have fallen in the last 4 weeks. Not just yam, but also tomatoes which has crashed completely and other food items”….Vïêw–Môrê
