Vice President Kashim Shettima has underscored the richness and diversity of Nigeria’s political environment, highlighting the wide-ranging party affiliations represented at a recent book unveiling. He pointed out that the event brought together individuals from various political backgrounds, showcasing the deep interconnectivity that exists within the country’s political class.

As reported by Daily Post on Thursday, July 10, 2025, Shettima specifically acknowledged the presence of members from the rebranded People’s Democratic Party (new PDP), noting that internal factions from legacy parties continue to wield influence in national discussions. This, he argued, reflects how Nigeria’s political structure has evolved—where once-opposing camps now often find common ground in public and strategic engagements.

The Vice President also acknowledged the political presence of Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, describing him as a respected elder brother and an influential voice within a coalition distinct from the ruling APC. By doing so, Shettima recognized the weight El-Rufai carries in the political arena, regardless of his current party alignment.

He went on to mention other political parties represented at the event, including the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), the All Progressives Party (APP), and the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Shettima, this convergence of diverse political actors highlights a truth often missed in public debates—that Nigeria’s political system is more cooperative and intertwined than it appears on the surface.

Using the metaphor of a “kaleidoscope of colours,” Shettima described the gathering as a vivid reflection of the multiplicity within Nigeria’s political space. Rather than being sharply split along party lines, he suggested that the system operates through a complex blend of alliances, shifting loyalties, and shared interests.

He stressed that beneath party platforms and campaign banners lies a more unified political network. Personal ties, mutual history, and longstanding collaborations often transcend official affiliations, reinforcing a sense of solidarity within the political elite.

In his words, “We have new PDP. We have the coalition heavily represented by my elder brother, Malam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai. We have the NNPP, APP, APC. This is a reflection, this is a kaleidoscope of colours.
