The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has dropped a bombshell regarding the rate in which corruption had eaten deep into the fabrics of the nation. According to his statements which were shared by VANGUARD, he pointed out that insecurity cannot be discussed without mentioning corruption, and nowhere was safe as even military funds were being diverted.
Amid the massive calls for pragmatic steps to be taken to curb insecurity, those at the helms of affairs were not helping matters as funds meant for the procurement of military assault rifles and other equipments were being diverted.
This was according to a recent statement from National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu which was made available to the general public by news outlet, VANGUARD today being Saturday the 10th day of May 2025.
The Security Chief, who spoke on security matters at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwofe in Ijebu land, Ondo state pointed out the critical issues affecting the nation’s quest for a lasting solution to insecurity.
According to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, corruption had eaten deep to the nation’s fabric to the extent that funds meant for military equipments diverted for personal gains.
‘In his words’
“We cannot talk about the insecurity in Nigeria without acknowledging that corruption has played a role in eroding public trust, compromising law enforcement effectiveness and some cases enabling impunity.
“Whether it is the diversion of funds meant for military hardware or the undermining of due process in arms procurement, the impact is clear weakening of national capacity to respond to threat.” He said.
