The former Nigerian Senator representing Kaduna State Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani while reacting to the recent statement of the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum that if the Bill was passed into law, they would not be able to pay salaries, revealed that the Northern Governors could not pay salaries was not a statement in defense of the Northern parts of the country, that was a statement that reveals how the region was dependent on other regions.
According to the Daily Post, the former Nigerian Senator representing Kaduna State Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani, said, “We cannot pay salaries is not a statement in defense of the North. It is a statement that reveals how the North is dependent on other regions. If not being able to pay salaries will reconfigure the region to look inward and depend on itself, let it be. Dignity is worthier than money.”
It was learned that the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum during an interview while reacting to the new derivation-based model for Value-Added Tax distribution in the new tax reform bills presented by the administration of President Tinubu before the National Assembly, said that they believed that if the Bill was passed into Law, it would completely destroy or kill the Northern parts of the country as a whole. He also added that if the Bill was passed into law, they would not be able to pay salaries.
