In a chilling report aired on TVC News, residents of Zah and surrounding communities in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State have made a desperate appeal to the federal government to deploy the military to border areas plagued by Boko Haram attacks. The plea follows a deadly onslaught that left 16 people dead, including the village head of Kota and two of his sons.
The devastation was brought to light in a field report by senior correspondent Wabenosi, who visited the affected areas, traveling through dangerous terrain with the help of local hunters due to security concerns.
“The army can form a unit, a division in these areas,” said Nicolas Bauchi, the village head of Zah Community. “Otherwise, the unit we have in Dour is not able to reach the area of combat. I can tell you that in most of the battles, it has been our hunters alone that confronted this resurgence.”
The special report showed scenes of burnt homes, deserted villages, and grieving families. In the absence of formal security forces, community members — many armed only with traditional hunting rifles — have taken up the defense of their lands.
Bauchi, with visible emotion, added, “We are ready to die in our fathers’ land; we don’t want to be servants in another land.” His words echoed the sentiment of many in these rural communities who rely on farming and have nowhere else to go.
Aliu Ibrahim, the district head whose jurisdiction covers the attacked communities, warned of a looming food crisis. “Almost everybody within the village are farmers… Some have cleared their farmland waiting to plant, and now they have been chased away,” he said. “It appears hunger is going to be our major problem.”

As attacks persist and government response remains limited, residents continue to hope their call for protection will not go unheard. Until then, they remain determined to defend their land — with or without help.
