Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that the party is carefully handling the issue of FCT minister Nyesom Wike, whom he accused of engaging in anti-party activities.
In an interview with TVC from 2:28, Pearse said the PDP has chosen to handle Wike’s case in a calm and democratic way, rather than rushing to punish him. He said that if Wike were a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party, he would have been expelled immediately because of the way APC operates.
Pearse added that within the PDP, there is hardly anyone who still considers Wike to be a true member of the party, except for those who belong to his own political group.
In Pearse’s words: “We are giving Wike enough rope to hang himself, that is our own approach. Some people would have hung him already. If he was in APC he would be gone by now because that is the way they operate. The way we operate is democratic, it is subtle, it is diplomatic. Wike has already written himself out of the party, there is nobody in the party who believes he is a member, except his own caucus. And he has had his own election and the national of the party rejected it”
