Actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has revealed the secret behind her 21-year marriage, stating that the most crucial element is making a firm decision to stay married from the very beginning. She explained that she and her husband agreed before they even wed that divorce would never be an option for them, no matter the circumstances.
In her interview on With Chude from 1:13, she argued that this foundational decision changes the entire dynamic of a relationship. By removing divorce as a possibility, it forces a couple to confront and work through nearly any issue. Oboli contended that if the desire to forgive is present, there is almost nothing that cannot be overcome, emphasizing that forgiveness is a choice that sustains a lifelong partnership.
Omoni Oboli said, “I think first things first you have to decide if you want to stay married. It’s a decision. So from day one, we decided that divorce was not an option. really from the very beginning from even before we got married we’re like you know what if we get married divorce is not an option right you see there’s almost nothing that someone would do that you can’t forgive if you want to forgive.”
