U.S. Senator Mark Warner has weighed in on the growing controversy surrounding the war with Iran, backing the recent resignation of former counterterrorism chief Joe Kent while sharply criticizing the decision to enter the conflict.

In a statement shared on his verified social media account, Warner said he had initially opposed Kent’s nomination. However, he commended the former official for what he described as acknowledging a key reality about the war.

“I didn’t support Kent’s nomination. Yet I’m glad he is willing to acknowledge the truth,” Warner wrote.

“There was no imminent threat to the United States, and this war was a terrible idea,” he added.

Warner’s comments come after Kent resigned from his position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, citing his inability to support the ongoing military campaign.

“Even Trump’s greatest MAGA advocates can see this war is stupid, costly, and deadly,” he said.

He concluded with a pointed question directed at the president: “When will Trump?”

The remarks reflect deepening divisions within U.S. political circles over the war with Iran, as lawmakers increasingly debate its origins, strategy, and long-term implications. Read_More…
