Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has once again dismissed the prospect of restoring relations with the United States, accusing Washington of maintaining an arrogant and domineering attitude toward other nations.
In a post shared on his verified Twitter account, Khamenei said some people often question whether Iran will ever re-establish ties with the United States, but he stressed that such relations would amount to surrendering Iran’s independence and dignity.
“Some people ask, ‘Will we never have relations with the US?’ The US’s arrogant nature accepts nothing other than submission. The current US President has stated this and exposed the US’s inner nature. What would be the meaning of such a surrender by a nation like Iran?” the Iranian leader wrote.
His statement comes amid renewed tensions between Tehran and Washington over Iran’s nuclear program, U.S. sanctions, and the Middle East conflict involving Israel and resistance groups backed by Iran.
Khamenei’s remarks reinforce his long-standing stance that Iran will not compromise its sovereignty or revolutionary ideals under Western pressure.
Khamenei, who has the final say on Iran’s foreign policy, has consistently accused successive U.S. administrations of hypocrisy and aggression, arguing that American calls for diplomacy are often accompanied by threats and economic coercion.
The Supreme Leader’s message also reflects deep skepticism toward any potential diplomatic thaw under the current U.S. leadership, which he says has revealed the true nature of Washington’s intentions toward independent nations.
Khamenei’s rejection of relations with the U.S. highlights the enduring mistrust between the two countries, more than four decades after diplomatic ties were severed following Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution. View, More,
