According to the Punch Newspaper, Former Special Adviser on Education to the Osun State Governor, Mr. Jamiu Olawumi, on Saturday, cautioned the public against believing videos circulating online that purportedly depict voters participating in the state’s local government elections.

However, Oladele Bamiji, the Media Director of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun, dismissed Olawumi’s assertion, maintaining that the election was conducted smoothly across the state.

Olawumi, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, told PUNCH Online in an exclusive interview that no election took place in Ife Central Local Government or anywhere else in the state.

“In Ilare Ward 3, Ile-Ife, some miscreants barricaded the road, but the police swiftly dispersed them. If any voting happened, it must have been before dawn, which is a common tactic,” he said.

He continued, “There was no election in Ife Central at all. Ife East experienced no disturbances. The PDP is merely recycling old election footage and sharing it online as if it were from this poll.”

“The clips being spread are from previous elections. We appreciate the police for maintaining professionalism throughout,” Olawumi concluded.

Bamiji, however, rejected these claims, challenging the APC to present any outdated footage that might be circulating online.

“The election took place peacefully across the state, and we now await official results from the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission,” he stated.

Further stating, “Unless they did the voting before dawn, there is no area in Ife Central where voting held. In Ife East, no untoward incident. The PDP is also using pseudo-films of past elections, putting them on social media.
