PDP chieftain Arch Uche Rochas on Friday, November 7, 2025, reacted to new developments within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that former Governor Nyesom Wike has “lost the bargaining power.”

Rochas made the comment in a post on X (formerly Twitter) after a report by Vanguard revealed that majority of the party’s state chairmen had thrown their support behind the embattled National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Damagum.

According to the Vanguard report published on Thursday, November 6, 2025, twenty-nine state chairmen reaffirmed their loyalty to Damagum and dismissed the authority of a rival leadership group led by Abdurahman Muhammed.

The chairmen emphasized that the party’s national leadership remains intact and legitimate.

The reaffirmed support was seen as a significant boost for Damagum ahead of the party’s national elective convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The convention is expected to decide key leadership positions and shape the direction of the party heading into future elections.

Reacting to the development, Rochas wrote: “Wike has lost the bargaining power.”

His statement suggested a shift in the internal power dynamics of the PDP, particularly as Wike has been seen as a central figure influencing negotiations and leadership alignments in recent years. View, More,
