The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, revealed on Friday that notorious terrorist kingpin Bello Turji has expressed his willingness to surrender.

According to Channels TV, it was reported that following the recent elimination of his second-in-command and other key lieutenants by the military, Turji has reportedly been left with a diminished network, prompting him to signal his readiness to lay down arms.

General Musa during an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today” explained that the military faces challenges in targeting terrorists, as they often operate within local communities. He noted that by the time intelligence is received and troops mobilize, the suspects frequently relocate, making operations more difficult.

He said, “But I can tell you, we have taken out his second in command, we have taken out most of his lieutenants, in fact he is forced now to release most of the people under him. I am telling you that recently he is beginning to say that he doesn’t want anything, he is ready surrender.”

Despite Bello Turji’s reported willingness to surrender, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has insisted that anyone involved in killing innocent citizens must face justice.

“Anyone who has killed must be taken out. People like him cannot be allowed to remain,” General Musa stated firmly.

More information made it known that the military, under Operation Hadarin Daji, has continued its offensive against Turji and his network. On Wednesday, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma eliminated Turji’s second-in-command, notorious terrorist Aminu Kanawa.

According to a statement by Defence Director Edward Buba, the military also inflicted severe injuries on Turji’s close allies, including Dosso (his younger brother) and Danbokolo (a trusted associate).

The troops further neutralized several key commanders in Turji’s network, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe, among others.

Additionally, over 24 fleeing terrorists from Turji’s camp were neutralized around Gebe and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State, as well as Gidan Rijiya in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The military remains committed to dismantling Turji’s operations and restoring peace to affected communities.
