Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, a former Zamfara governorship candidate and chieftain of the APC, has spoken about the attempt on his life in Abuja on Friday, August 15 2025 shortly after he left the mosque. Shinkafi said this was not the first time he had faced such danger.
In an interview with AIT from 7:25, Shinkafi said that last year he was also attacked inside a mosque. He said he has been experiencing threats repeatedly from well-known bandit leaders. He revealed that the notorious Bello Turji once released a video clip where he insulted him and threatened his life.
Shinkafi also said another bandit called him ten times and sent him two voice messages. He explained that his strong position against banditry has continued to put him at risk.
In Shinkafi’s words: “The renowned bandit Bello Turji has been threatening me, he did a video clip threatening me and describing me with all kinds of insults. And another bandit called me 10 times and sent me two voice messages that I am always telling the governor of Zamfara State and the current president to not go into negotiation with them”
