Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Prof Chidi Odinkalu has stated that in 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu threatened to invade Niger Republic.
This statement was contained in a post that Chidi Odinkalu shared on his official X handle on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
This is coming after US President, Donald Trump said the Nigerian government must end the killing of Christians else, the US Army will intervene.
However, in the post that Chidi Odinkalu shared on his page, he said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS to threaten Niger Republic.
The human rights activist said today, the shoe is on another foot.

“In July 2023, Nigeria led ECOWAS to threaten invasion against Niger. 5 days later, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu asked National Assembly to authorize the invasion of Niger Republic without backing of international law”. View, More,
