One of the chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has taken to his official X account on November 8, 2025 to react after he heard that the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan wrote a legal brief confirming genocidal killings in Nigeria.
This came after the President of the United State of America, Donald Trump designated Nigeria as Country of Particular Concern over alleged killing of Christians.
According to DAILY POST, in the legal brief that Joash Ojo Amupitan wrote in 2020, he confirmed genocide in Nigeria.
He said;
“It is a notorious fact that there is perpetration of crimes under international law in Nigeria, particularly crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide”.
Reacting, Senator Shehu Sani stated that the new INEC Chairman should not be removed from office based on his past opinion on the killings in Nigeria.
According to Shehu Sani on his official X account;
“INEC Chairman’s past professional opinion on the killings in Nigeria should not warrant his removal from office. In life, we don’t have to always agree on all matters”. View, More,
