According to Punch newspaper,a police inspector working with the Rivers State Police Command, named Maxwell Zubu, has reportedly taken his own life.

The sad event happened on Tuesday in the Eagle Island area of Port Harcourt.

Zubu was said to be serving as a security officer for a former Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.

As of now, the full details of what led to the incident are not clear.

Credible investigation showed that the case has been reported to the police station at Eagle Island, which is under the Azikiwe Police Division located in Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

A police officer who did not want his name mentioned said, “some officers from the Azikiwe Police Division visited the scene as part of the first steps in the investigation.”

When the police spokesperson for the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, was contacted, she confirmed that the incident happened but did not give more information.

Iringe-Koko, who is a Superintendent of Police, said the police have started looking into the matter to find out what really caused the death.

She said, “Yes, I can confirm the incident, but we have started an investigation to know the exact cause of what happened. We will share our findings with the public soon.”

She also added that the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt for a more thorough.
