U.S. Senator John Fetterman has expressed strong criticism of Hamas regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza, holding the militant group fully responsible for the escalating humanitarian crisis.

In a statement posted on his verified Twitter account, Fetterman condemned Hamas for using civilians and medical facilities as shields, calling on the group to surrender and release all hostages to bring an end to the violence.

“The tragedy in Gaza is 100% on Hamas,” Fetterman wrote. His message points to Hamas’ alleged tactics of embedding themselves within civilian populations, using homes and hospitals as cover for their operations against Israel, which has led to significant civilian casualties and infrastructure damage in Gaza.

Fetterman’s comments come amid heightened tensions and international concerns over the conflict, which has led to widespread destruction and loss of life on both sides. His call for Hamas to “surrender and release all remaining hostages” reflects growing frustration in the U.S. and elsewhere regarding the militant group’s role in prolonging the violence, as well as the continued captivity of hostages.

The senator’s stance aligns with broader U.S. policy that designates Hamas as a terrorist organization, holding the group accountable for the instability in Gaza. He suggests that a resolution to the conflict could be reached if Hamas ceases its use of civilians as shields and releases the hostages.
