According to Punch, in a deepening controversy over an alleged examination malpractice case at Complete Child Development College in Akure, Ondo State, the father of the accused student, Mr. Elisha Imoukhuede, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, demanding immediate action against school officials and policemen involved in what he calls defamation and unlawful conduct.
The dispute erupted after the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Alexander Rotifa, allegedly caught Imoukhuede’s SS3 son with an Android phone during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination. The incident quickly escalated, with reports claiming that the student’s mother later invited thugs who assaulted the Vice Principal — a claim the family strongly denies.
The Ondo State Police Command, in an earlier statement by spokesperson Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the arrest of five individuals in connection with the attack, including the student’s mother. However, Imoukhuede has now pushed back with a formal petition alleging a grave misrepresentation of facts and unjust treatment of his family.
According to the petition, the incident began innocuously on May 28, 2025, when the student reportedly took his mother’s phone to school for business-related reasons. The device was seized by a teacher for breaching school rules, despite no proof it was used to aid in cheating.
Imoukhuede claimed that efforts to retrieve the phone the following day were obstructed by the school. His elder son was denied access to collect the device, and only after the mother visited personally — and reportedly after pressure from other parents — was the phone finally returned.
Later that evening, the situation took a disturbing turn. The Vice Principal allegedly appeared in their neighbourhood with unknown individuals in a police van. According to the petition, they forcibly apprehended a 13-year-old relative — a student of FUTA Secondary School — who was mistaken for the SS3 student and taken away without explanation.
Witnesses raised the alarm, fearing a kidnapping, as the child screamed and pleaded to contact his mother. Neighbours reportedly gave chase, while the child’s mother joined in the effort to rescue him. Amid the chaos, the Vice Principal allegedly sustained minor injuries. The family insists that any harm caused occurred unintentionally during the confusion sparked by the suspected abduction.
Imoukhuede also accused the school of spreading damaging falsehoods, including public statements asserting that his son was caught attempting to cheat.
He said; “To make matters worse, the school has since issued false and malicious communications, widely circulated, accusing my son of planning to cheat in his examinations.”
