Mr. Fafaa Dan Princewill, a Labour Party chieftain in Rivers State, has shared his views on resolving the crisis between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike. He said it is hard to reconcile two people who don’t want peace and aren’t saying what the real problems are.
Speaking in an interview with Punch, Princewill said even President Tinubu tried to settle the conflict between Fubara and Wike through a meeting but didn’t succeed. He said the fact that a state of emergency was declared in Rivers shows that the reconciliation efforts failed.
Princewill said that issues like control of political structures, money, and other private matters are at the heart of the conflict. He said only Wike and Fubara know if they can truly make peace. He added that he is not expecting any real progress in the next five months of the emergency rule.
Princewill said: “I don’t think you can reconcile people who don’t want to be reconciled, and I don’t know what the terms of the reconciliation would be. So, to be honest with you, the President himself tried to reconcile them via a meeting, but I don’t think it worked”
