A fresh wave of political contention has emerged in Nigeria following a pointed critique by President Tinubu’s aide Daniel Bwala, to Nasir El-Rufai’s recent interview on Arise TV. The interview which was aired on June 23, 2025 is said to have reignited debates about coalition politics and historical narratives ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a post on X late Monday, Bwala expressed disappointment with El-Rufai’s remarks, stating, “I listened to the interview of my elder brother @elrufai Nasir El-Rufai… He didn’t say anything new or outside the realm of what anyone in the opposition or coalition would say.” However, he sharply criticized El-Rufai for attempting “to re-write history, and his facts were not supported by any shred of evidence.” Bwala further labeled the coalition El-Rufai represents as “an association of internally displaced politicians formed for a wild goose chase. Dead on arrival.”
