Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, the 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, reflected on his early encounters with President Tinubu during the days of Chief MKO Abiola. He recalled Tinubu’s unwavering presence by Abiola’s side, noting how he first met Tinubu during this period. Nwanyanwu shared a personal memory of being given a seat by Abiola, a gesture he felt he didn’t deserve at the time.
He stated that he has never actively sought any political office, yet opportunities have consistently come his way. He further stated that these opportunities have not been driven by people from his own tribe, dismissing any attempts to undermine him, stating that such actions are ineffective and swiftly dismissed.
He said in an interview with Symfoni, “You see this president, President Tinubu? He was consistent. I saw him in the house every day. in fact, he was always with Chief Abiola in that S-Class everywhere he went. That was where I met Tinubu for the first time. I was very small, hungry looking, but Abiola gave me a seat that I didn’t deserve.
Up to this day, I have never sought to contest for anything, but it comes to me. And it doesn’t come from people of my tribe, so how will you be talking trash to me? It will not work. By the time you open your mouth, it’s done—you’re gone.”
