Prominent Niger Delta activist and environmentalist, Ann-Kio Briggs, has declared that the people of Rivers State remain firmly loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara and will follow his political direction, regardless of his party affiliation. She made the statement during an interview on Symfoni TV, where she reassured President Bola Tinubu that Rivers voters will support any candidate endorsed by Governor Fubara.

Briggs emphasized that in the unique political climate of the Niger Delta, particularly Rivers State, Governor Fubara wields immense influence, enough to sway the entire voting population in favor of a presidential candidate he supports.

“Whether Siminalayi Fubara is in PDP or not, those people will vote for the president of Nigeria if Fubara says they should vote for the president of Nigeria,” she said. “When it comes to Rivers State—I can’t speak for another state—but when it comes to Rivers State in the Niger Delta, the president should have no fear, no worries. There’s no way Fubara will tell Rivers people to vote for this person or that person and we will not do it.”

Her remarks come amid growing political tension between factions in Rivers State and the federal government, with speculations about shifting party loyalties and alignments. However, Briggs’ comments offer a strong indication of continued grassroots support for Fubara and an assurance to the presidency of political stability in the state.
