Former Lawmaker representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Olusola Adeyeye, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu once expressed strong trust in Rauf Aregbesola, stating that he believed Aregbesola would never harm him.

During an interview with Channels TV, Adeyeye recounted a meeting where Tinubu conveyed his confidence in Aregbesola’s loyalty.

He said that Tinubu remarked that even if he were asleep and Aregbesola approached with a weapon, he would not be in danger. He further noted that, for Aregbesola, the only being greater than Tinubu was God.

He admitted to being unaware of what led to the fallout between the two but speculated that it might be related to Aregbesola believing Tinubu had supported his brother against him. He said he did his best to mediate, but he was unable to settle the rift between the two. According to him, he has left the matter for them to resolve.

He said, “I was at a meeting in which Tinubu said that if you see him sleeping and you see Rauf [Aregbesola] coming with a dagger or a knife, don’t wake him up, Rauf will never injure me. For Rauf, the only entity in the universe that’s greater than Bola Tinubu was God. So, I never knew what happened between them, I have a feeling that it has to do with Rauf thinking that Bola Tinubu sided with his own brother against him. Honestly, I leave the two of them to settle that. I tried my very best, power is a very terrible thing.”
