In a recent interview with Trust TV, Professor Kailani Mohammed, a political associate of former President Muhammadu Buhari, voiced his dissatisfaction with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approach to the upcoming 2027 general election. He criticized the president for allegedly distributing money to governors under the assumption that they hold the key to securing his re-election, describing this strategy as misguided and ineffective.
Professor Mohammed emphasized that President Tinubu should shift his focus away from political elites and concentrate instead on the Nigerian populace. According to him, it is the masses—not the governors—who possess the real power to determine the outcome of the election through their votes.
According to him, “Now that the president is dishing out money to the governors, thinking that it is these governors who are going to deliver him in 2027, which is not correct. It is the grassroots, the electorate, because they have the power to vote for who they want, and that’s what the constitution of Nigeria says.
