Tensions between Iran and the United States deepened following a reported missile attack on American bases in Qatar. According to Axios, as cited by Reuters, Iran launched six missiles toward US military installations — a move seen by some analysts as symbolic rather than strategic.

Reacting to the development, Egyptian-British national security researcher Khaled Hassan described Iran’s action as a retreat disguised as retaliation. He shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

“This is Iran surrendering. But, remember one thing: Israel will treat Iran the same way it treats Lebanon. They will get hit every single time they move even a little bit of ammunition. And, the people of Iran still have a chance to take to the streets. This is not the end.”

Hassan’s comments came shortly after reports confirmed the missiles caused no casualties, and that Iran had even alerted regional actors before the launch — a detail that President Trump acknowledged.

The missile launch followed the US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. The operation, involving B-2 bombers, was designed to damage Iran’s underground enrichment infrastructure. The White House had earlier described Iran as an “imminent threat.” Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt praised Trump, saying, “He is the first president with the guts to actually do something about it.”
Despite the attacks, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi insisted Tehran would not abandon its nuclear goals. “Iran will continue its uranium enrichment activities despite US and Israeli strikes,” he said.
Iran’s judiciary chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei had also declared the US strikes “criminal” and warned they would not go unanswered.
With missiles flying and strong rhetoric on both sides, the region braces for what could come next.
