According to Daily Post reports, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo has responded after the Anonymous Group revealed an alleged plot by Islamic extremists and bandits to assassinate him within seven days because of his outspoken claims that Christians are being killed in Plateau State.
Dachomo, who serves as the regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi LGA, has emerged as one of the most vocal clergymen in the country.
He has refused to be silenced, continuing to publicise footage of killings and mass burials to draw attention to what he describes as a campaign against Christians in Plateau and elsewhere in Nigeria even as the federal government denies such claims.
By contrast, many other church leaders have remained quiet or avoided taking a firm position.
Because of his stance and the videos he has released, concerns have grown that his life could be at risk; those he exposes are reportedly angry that he is making their actions public.
Some have even blamed him for prompting international reactions, including talk of US military involvement and Nigeria’s designation as a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) over alleged killings of Christians.
The Anonymous Group a decentralised international collective known for hacktivism and online protests posted on its Facebook page on Friday, warning that Rev. Dachomo had been targeted.
According to the post, images of “Pastor Dachomo Bwede Ezekiel, a man of God”, were being shared among Islamic terrorists and bandits. The message claimed orders had gone out to murder him within seven days, accusing him of triggering foreign intervention.
The post added that militants were enraged because they felt their livelihoods and survival were threatened by his actions and quoted the alleged instruction: “Kill him and cut his head off.”
It urged the public to spread the warning so the pastor and his family would be alerted: this is an emergency, it said, begging people to intervene and prevent what it described as another massacre warning of burning, brutal slaughter and pleading that the plot be foiled.
Nonetheless, Rev. Dachomo has publicly said he is unafraid, insisting he will speak the truth even at the risk of his life. In a video he posted to Facebook, he declared that he has “already sold [his] soul to Jesus Christ,” adding that to die in that cause would be a gain.
“I have already sold my soul to Jesus Christ; to die is gain, and to live is to say the truth. I’m rejoicing, welcoming death in a good call, but if the will of God says I will still survive, I will continue saying the truth. We love the Muslims; we’re caring for them,” he said.
He has faced death threats before and has frequently stated that fear will not stop him.
He said, “They have been threatening me everywhere, even on social media. They even threatened to kill me during mass burials.”
In other posts, Dachomo has said he receives threats by phone and text regularly, yet he insists he will continue to speak truth to power and defend his community. View, More,
