The presidential candidate of the Labour Party during the 2023 presidential election, Mr Peter Obi, during a video interview from 4:00 on Arise Television has criticize President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for not effectively and efficiently managing the gains from the fuel subsidy removal.
When he was talking he claimed that what the current government ought to be doing with the gains from the subsidy removal should be that; more money is channeled into education, and healthcare services, but instead of doing this, more money is being given to the states, yet the positive effects is not being seen.
He said, “They spent N21 billion to renovate a house for the vice-president, but he hasn’t packed in…he is not living there. And you cannot even have a primary school for kids who are going to be leaders of tomorrow; for people who passes the same process, you now deny these kids this opportunity today.”
Further talking, he said, “So it’s not a democratic country. It’s not for the people. You can’t have democracy without a functional and effective legislature, which you know we don’t have today. You can’t have democracy, again without an independent judiciary that fights for the common party.”
