In Abuja’s Wuse district earlier today, officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) Development Control Department, led by Mr. Galadima, demolished a garden belonging to a retired army general. The operation, reportedly carried out under the authority of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, left the property destroyed.
According to a video report by Sahara TV, it was told that the demolition team arrived without notice, quickly marking and dismantling structures within the property. Items worth millions of naira were reduced to rubble, with no chance to salvage materials. Scavengers, known locally as Babambola, took away valuables as the demolition progressed.
By the end of the operation, the once well-kept garden was a flat stretch of earth, littered with debris. The owner recounted his ordeal:
“What will I do? I was here in the morning and I saw them coming. They said they’re from Development, and they started marking the place. I said, what for? He said they are demolishing. I said, how can you demolish without notification, without anything? They said they must demolish today. Then I begged them; I said, please… I met the director, one Mr. Galadima, who I used to know, and I said, please give me one week. He said no. I said, okay, just give me a day to move my properties out of there. They said no, they will not allow me.
