According to a report by DAILYPOST, a 14-year-old girl rescued from a sex trafficking camp in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State has shared her harrowing experience, revealing that she was forced to sleep with 10 to 12 men daily. The young survivor, whose identity has been withheld, is a native of Akwa Ibom State and was trafficked to Ogun State on January 29, 2024.
The Ogun State Amotekun Corps conducted a raid on the camp early Wednesday morning, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects, including the ringleader, Idem Joy. The victims, aged between 12 and 39, were reportedly used for prostitution at a hotel located along the old bank road in Ifo. Among the items recovered during the raid were N819,600 in cash, various drugs, cartons of condoms, energy enhancers, lubricants, and packs of tissue paper.
Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (retd.), the Corps Commandant, noted that 14 of the rescued girls were trafficked from Akwa Ibom State, with others coming from Cross River and Delta States. He explained that the survivors were coerced into taking oaths, a traumatic process that involved being stripped naked and having parts of their hair cut off for alleged ritual purposes. This was done to intimidate them and prevent them from escaping or reporting their ordeal.
The 14-year-old survivor, a Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) dropout, told DAILY POST that she was deceived into believing she would work as a salesgirl.
“They did not tell me that this is what I will be doing; they only told me that I would be a sales girl when I arrive. So I came with my friend, Glory, but she works at another hotel,” she said. Upon arrival, she was given drugs and forced into prostitution. She also revealed that her hair was cut, and she was threatened with death if she tried to escape.
The young girl further disclosed that she earned between N1,000 and N2,000 per customer, making up to N20,000 daily. “Sometimes I make N20,000 per day depending on the turnout. I sleep with 10 to 12 men a day,” she said.
