During an interview with Arise Television, Chizzy Enyi, a lawyer and political commentator, weighed in on the political legacies of two influential Rivers State politicians—former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Nyesom Wike. He drew a sharp contrast between their approaches to governance and democratic values, particularly during their respective tenures.

Enyi emphasised that Amaechi’s political history is rooted in principles of electoral fairness and grassroots inclusion. He noted that unlike Wike, Amaechi promoted democratic participation and was committed to giving people the opportunity to freely choose their leaders, even in his own strongholds.

According to him, “There’s no way Amaechi’s political history will be compared to that of Nyesom Wike. You know why, Amaechi believes in humanity; Amaechi does not believe much about rigging. Amaechi believes in one man, one vote; hence, he allowed people to vote. Even in his own local government, people were allowed to vote, but in Obiakpo, in all these successive elections, people were not allowed to vote.”
