In an interview with Vanguard, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll who was recently reinstated has shared the practical lessons he learned why he was dethroned as Emir by the former governor of Kano State.
He emphasized that greatest mistake by the former governor was the division of the emirates as it has caused problem among the people of the state.
The Kano Emir alleged that the Christians and Muslims regard themselves as one family, adding that dividing them by creating emirates will lead to crisis.
He recalled that there was an issue in the state where the Church was burnt and that he used his money rebuild the church.
He said, “There was an issue where people went and burnt a church. I went to the church and brought out my money to rebuild the church. We are one people, and nobody asked for it. What we are dealing with is a situation where somebody divides the emirate and, naturally, when you create these things, some people get more privileges. They didn’t ask for it, but they have enjoyed it for four years. When they lose it, it is a problem. But the problem is not what happened today. It is what happened four years ago. If it had not been done, we would not be in this situation today…..Sée Móre
