The Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has stated that anybody who says that someone can become a Local Government Council Chairman without the help of a governor is wasting his time. He noted that only a governor can help people to become council chairmen.
Ayodele Fayose made this known during an interview with a journalist on Channels Television From 10:35 To 12:30. During the interview, Ayodele Fayose said, “there is nobody who can become a council chairman without a governor. Anybody that tells you otherwise is wasting his time.”
“Let me quickly remind you that the house of assembly of every state controls and checkmates the activities of the local government. Any council chairman that says that because money is coming to him and as such he will disrespect the governor, the house of assembly will call you and tell you to go and disobey the governor inside your house. You can never become the council chairman without the governor standing up for you.”….Seë_Morë
