Umana Umana, the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, has said that the recent defection by the Akwa-Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno from the PDP to the APC wasn’t a form of betrayal.

In an interview with Arise News Television on Saturday from 6:11, he noted that Governor Umo Eno gave valid reasons for eventually deciding to join the governing party.

One of those reasons was to bring Akwa Ibom to the center of political power by joining the ruling APC. Umana Umana clearly pointed out that the Akwa Ibom State Governor confessed to being a strong supporter of President Tinubu, which also inspired his move to the APC.

According to him, Umo Eno should not be faulted for leaving a chaotic PDP to join the APC, which offers a better political environment for him to deliver good governance to his people. He added that the Akwa Ibom State Governor would have the opportunity to connect freely with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who also hails from Akwa Ibom State.

Umana Umana: “As you could see on the day that he (Umo Eno) moved, he had endorsements from critical stakeholders, so there is no betrayal. There is no betrayal at all, do you expect him to continue in a party with all of the confusion and with all of the distractions. We are very happy in Akwa Ibom that he is taking these bold steps”.
