In a defiant interview amid rising hostilities between Iran and Israel, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht Ravanchi, warned that Tehran would take whatever necessary action to defend itself if the United States joins Israel in direct military action. Ravanchi’s remarks come as speculation grows that President Donald Trump is weighing potential U.S. involvement in the escalating Middle East crisis.

Speaking during a televised interview with CNN, Ravanchi described recent Israeli strikes as an act of aggression against Iran and its people. “We were about to start a new round of talks with the Americans,” he said, referring to diplomatic efforts slated for June 15. “Two days before, we were attacked by the Israelis in the middle of the night. They attacked residential areas, paramedics, and university professors. This is a crime against humanity, pure and simple.”

He accused Israel of targeting key national infrastructure, including intelligence facilities and nuclear sites safeguarded under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) protocols. “Attacking our safeguarded nuclear facilities is a violation of international law,” he said, adding that the international community’s failure to hold Israel accountable, particularly the United States and some European powers, was not acceptable.

When asked about the possibility of the U.S. joining Israel in direct military action, particularly with Trump reportedly considering strikes on Iran’s deeply-buried Fordow nuclear facility—Ravanchi responded with caution and resolve. “If the Americans get involved directly, our hands will not be tied. We will do whatever is necessary to protect our people and our interests,” he declared.

The most emphatic moment of the interview came when Ravanchi compared the current Israeli assault to Iran’s past war with Iraq during the regime of Saddim Hussein. “The world was behind Iraq, but we resisted for eight years,” he stated firmly. “Israel will be no different, we have experience.”. He further stressed that Iran was not seeking war, but could not be expected to negotiate under duress.
